Asha Park, Supporter Relations & Fundraising Manager at Brent Lodge, shared the news with AVM:

"We are absolutely thrilled here at Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital to have been selected to receive an donation from the Anthony V Martin Foundation towards the purchase of solar panel batteries, helping us power our busy wildlife hospital in a more sustainable way — both financially and environmentally.

"With a legacy spanning more than 55 years, we have witnessed first-hand the changing challenges faced by wildlife. The impacts of climate change and a changing environment are becoming increasingly evident, which is why we believe it is just as important to protect and preserve the natural habitats these animals return to as it is to care for them during their time with us.

"Running a wildlife hospital requires a huge amount of energy — from dozens of incubators keeping vulnerable patients warm, to daily laundry loads, medicine refrigeration, lighting, and essential veterinary equipment. With rising energy prices, our bills were also becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.

"Thanks to the generosity of grant funders and legacy donors, we successfully installed solar panels and a heat pump to help power, heat, and support our hospital wards. The funding from the Anthony V Martin Foundation will provide the final piece of this exciting sustainability project: batteries to store the energy generated by our solar panels, allowing us to use renewable energy even on darker winter days and reduce our reliance on the national grid.

"We are incredibly grateful to the Anthony V Martin Foundation for making this possible and for supporting our commitment to leading by example in wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility."
