New Cattery Unit to Help Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Meet Growing Demand
Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue has been awarded a grant from the Anthony V. Martin Foundation to support the charity's plans to expand its cattery facilities, helping even more cats and kittens receive the care they need before finding their forever homes.
For many years, the rescue has provided a safe haven for vulnerable animals, with its cattery playing a vital role in caring for cats and kittens awaiting rehoming. In recent years, demand has continued to grow, with the main cattery operating at full capacity as increasing numbers of animals arrive needing shelter and care.
The Foundation's grant will contribute towards the installation of an additional cattery unit. The new facility will help relieve pressure on the existing cattery, while allowing the rescue to restore its separate isolation cattery, which has been repurposed as a maternity unit to provide a peaceful environment for pregnant and nursing cats.
The charity is continuing to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the project, with the Foundation's grant providing a significant contribution towards this essential new facility.
Speaking about the grant, Donna from Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue said:
"Fundraising is such a challenge in these present times, so we were beyond delighted to win this and would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to the Trustees of the Foundation for choosing us to receive this magnificent gift.
These funds will go towards the cost of an additional cattery unit. Our main cattery has been operating at capacity for the past couple of years due to an unprecedented number of cats and kittens needing a safe sanctuary while they are prepared for rehoming, and our separate isolation cattery has had to be repurposed as a maternity unit to enable many pregnant and nursing cats to have the peaceful facilities they require.
This has compromised our ability to provide isolation accommodation and it is essential that we install another unit with several pens. We are now actively fundraising for the balance that we will need in order to pay for this vital facility, and the grant from the Foundation has provided a very welcome and key element to this large expenditure."
