Based in Gloucestershire, Brockworth Hedgehog Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, release, and research of European wild hedgehogs. In 2024 alone, the charity admitted 1,428 hedgehogs, providing expert care to sick, injured, and orphaned animals before returning them to the wild wherever possible.

The Foundation's grant will support an important research project in partnership with the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), investigating Hedgehog Arterivirus. Following a high number of positive cases, the rescue has already introduced new procedures to help prevent the virus from spreading among the hedgehogs in its care.

By supporting this research, the Foundation is helping to improve understanding of the disease while strengthening the rescue's ability to protect vulnerable hedgehogs now and in the future.
