Helping Rescue Ponies & Donkeys Breathe Easier at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary
Woodlands Animal Sanctuary has been awarded a grant from the Anthony V. Martin Foundation to provide specialist care for rescue ponies living with chronic respiratory disease.
Founded in 2005, Woodlands Animal Sanctuary is West Lancashire's only multi-species sanctuary, providing lifelong care for more than 100 rescued animals, including horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, and guinea pigs. The sanctuary is committed to giving every animal a safe home and the individual care they need to thrive.
The Foundation's grant has funded the purchase of a forage steamer for three rescue ponies living with equine Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). By killing mould spores and bacteria found in hay, the steamer helps reduce respiratory irritation and inflammation, allowing the ponies to breathe more comfortably while supporting their long-term health and wellbeing.
This specialist equipment will make a lasting difference to the daily care of the ponies, improving their quality of life and helping the sanctuary continue providing the highest standard of welfare for animals with complex medical needs.
The Anthony V. Martin Foundation is proud to support Woodlands Animal Sanctuary and its dedication to providing compassionate, lifelong care for rescued animals with a wide range of health and welfare needs.
