On the Road with Rio: A New Rescue Van for Pennine Pen

The AVM Foundation is pleased to share that we have recently awarded a grant to Pennine Pen Animal Rescue in Oldham to fund a much-needed new van. This vehicle is a vital resource for the charity, enabling the team to carry out emergency rescues, essential vet trips, and the safe transport of animals throughout their journey to recovery.

To mark the arrival of the new van, Kirsty sent us some wonderful photos featuring Rio, who was a resident with the charity for five years. Rio’s story is a powerful reminder of the work Pennine Pen does; he arrived at the rescue after surviving a violent domestic situation which left him with deep trauma and behavioral challenges. Over the years, the team worked tirelessly to rebuild his trust, eventually leading to him finding a permanent home with a family who understands his quirks.

Rio is currently staying at the rescue for a short period while his owner (one of the Pennine Pen Trustees!) completes a house move.

This visit provided the perfect opportunity for him to help show off the new wheels. While Rio is just one of the many animals helped by the charity, seeing him by the van highlights the impact of having reliable transport to support the rescue's mission!

We are proud to help Pennine Pen continue their life-saving work in the Oldham community.
