πŸ“£ Recent AVM Foundation Grant Awards Announced

We’re proud to share a closer look at the animal welfare organisations recently supported by the AVM Foundation. These grants are helping charities strengthen infrastructure, expand rescue capabilities and deliver vital care to animals both in the UK and internationally.

πŸ¦” Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue

Prickles and Paws is a dedicated hedgehog rescue based in Cornwall focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of native British hedgehogs. They admit thousands of hedgehogs each year β€” many injured or orphaned β€” and work closely with vets and the public to return them to the wild whenever possible. This funding supports the installation of new fencing, helping to create a safer, more secure environment for animals during rehabilitation, while also improving day-to-day operations for staff and volunteers.

🐢 Pennine Pen Animal Rescue

Pennine Pen, founded in 2001 and based in Oldham, provides sanctuary and care to unwanted, abandoned or neglected dogs, cats and small animals. They offer essential veterinary care β€” including neutering, vaccinations and microchipping β€” and focus on rehabilitation and rehoming animals into loving, permanent homes. Funding towards a new rescue van strengthens their ability to respond quickly to animals in need, transport them safely to veterinary appointments, and support more rescues across their region.

🐾 Soi Dog Foundation

Soi Dog Foundation is a globally recognised animal welfare charity headquartered in Phuket, Thailand, dedicated to improving the lives of stray dogs and cats across Asia. The organisation has been instrumental in ending the dog meat trade in Thailand and continues large-scale neutering and vaccination programmes to reduce suffering and disease among street animal populations. This grant supports the neutering and vaccination programme rollout.

🐻 International Animal Rescue

International Animal Rescue (IAR) is a UK-based conservation and animal welfare charity working around the world to protect animals and habitats. One of their major initiatives is the Brown Bear Protection project in Armenia, where bears illegally kept in tiny cages β€” often at roadside attractions β€” are rescued, rehabilitated and given access to large natural enclosures. The project also works with partners to strengthen local wildlife protection and provide lifelong care or release into the wild where possible. This funding contributes towards a Bear Rescue Centre in Armenia, providing rescued bears with safe enclosures, rehabilitation, and lifelong care after years of confinement and neglect.

πŸ¦‰ Secret World Wildlife Rescue

Secret World Wildlife Rescue cares for thousands of injured and orphaned wild animals every year. Funding for a new X-ray machine helps improve diagnosis and treatment, allowing veterinary teams to identify internal injuries more quickly and accurately, and give wildlife the best possible chance of recovery and release.
