Restoring Hope for Sri Lanka’s Most Vulnerable Animals
Animal SOS Sri Lanka has been awarded a grant from the Anthony V. Martin Foundation to restore vital on-site veterinary capacity, enabling the charity to continue providing life-saving treatment and care to some of the country’s most vulnerable animals.
Animal SOS Sri Lanka rescues animals from some of the most extreme circumstances imaginable, including road traffic accidents, severe abuse, and devastating injuries caused by Hakkapat explosive jaw-bombs. When other organisations may not be able to help, Animal SOS steps in — providing emergency surgery, rehabilitation, and lifelong sanctuary for animals who would otherwise face abandonment or euthanasia.
Alongside its rescue work, the charity also runs community neutering programmes in the surrounding area, tackling the root causes of street animal suffering and helping prevent future generations of animals from being born into hardship.
This grant will fund an experienced veterinary surgeon for a full year, restoring essential surgical capacity at the sanctuary and allowing Animal SOS Sri Lanka to restart and expand its life-saving neutering programmes. Over the next 12 months, the charity expects this support to contribute towards around 25,000 veterinary treatments, more than 1,500 surgeries, and expanded community outreach.

This funding will enable us to continue providing life-saving veterinary care to critically injured animals, many of whom are victims of road traffic accidents, jaw bombs, horrific abuse, and other life-threatening conditions. It will ensure they receive the urgent treatment and specialist care they need when every minute counts.
Over the next 12 months, we expect to provide around 25,000 veterinary treatments, perform more than 1,500 surgeries, and expand our community neutering programmes, helping to prevent thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born into lives of suffering.
