Supporting Vulnerable Young People Through Therapeutic Horsemanship

The funding will support around 20 young people to attend weekly one-to-one Therapeutic Horsemanship sessions over the next year. These sessions are designed to build confidence, self-esteem, empathy, and communication skills, while also opening pathways to equine or animal care courses through Sirona’s college partnerships.

Sirona’s approach is unique in that many of their horses and animals are rescues. Their wellbeing is at the heart of everything Sirona does, ensuring that the animals are cared for and respected. This ethos of compassion and respect helps foster meaningful, therapeutic relationships between young people and animals, making a lasting difference in the lives of both.

The Anthony V. Martin Foundation is delighted to award a recent grant to Sirona Therapeutic Horsemanship, enabling their team to continue their vital work with vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.

Julie Roberts, at Sirona, shared:

“We are so grateful to have received a grant from the Anthony V Martin Foundation and wish to extend our heartfelt thanks. The funding will enable around 20 vulnerable and disadvantaged young people to attend weekly 1-1 Therapeutic Horsemanship sessions over the next year. These sessions help these young people build confidence, self-esteem, empathy and improve communication skills, with some participants potentially progressing to equine or animal care courses through our college partnerships. Many of the animals at Sirona are rescues, and their well being is central to everything we do—ensuring they are cared for and respected is fundamental to our ethos. This grant allows us to continue our work fostering meaningful relationships between young people and animals whilst guiding and embodying best practices in animal care.”

We are proud to support Sirona’s commitment to helping young people grow, while also championing the welfare of rescued animals.
